Martial Arts Teaching Style and Techniques
Our program relies on a series of steps, which gradually become more difficult based on one’s progression through the ranks of Tae Kwon Do. These steps are designed to be easier for beginners, and increase with difficulty, precision, and focus later on. The first step teaches the basics, such as blocking, punching, and kicking. These different movements, along with forms (or poom-se) need to be perfected and memorized prior to studying the second step.
The second step includes learning a jump kick, and board-breaking techniques using the hand. After mastering the second step, students are expected to be able to mix and apply their understanding of the first and second steps together before continuing with their Tae Kwon Do studies. The third step utilizes close-range techniques like grabbing, bending, twisting and throwing. This next step challenges students to react instinctively and at this point students are expected to be able to defend themselves sufficiently should the need ever arise.
The fourth and final step involves continuous training and perfecting of the aforementioned steps and techniques. Practicing will increase studentsﾡﾯ flexibility, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-defense skills, and help develop their physicality. And most importantly, continuous practice and repetition will help stabilize studentsﾡﾯ minds. The core teaching of martial arts is to train daily and achieve a healthy life while gaining wisdom and overall happiness.
